>>How
do I address "little tardies" without coming
across as a micro manager?
I
have two to three employees who are regularly late every
single day. They are usually in the office within 10
minutes of the start of their shift, but the point is
they are always a few minutes late. How do I address the
"little tardies" in such a way that I'm taken
seriously, yet not come across as a micro manager?

manager?
You're
right for being concerned about those "little
tardies." Here's a sample dialogue of how I would
handle this:
Do
you realize that you are consistently 5 minutes late to
work, every day—without fail?
I
know it may not seem like a bi
g
deal…you know, it’s 5 minutes, right?
But
here’s the problem: 5 minutes a day really adds up.
When you are late 5 minutes a day, 5 days a week, 4
weeks a month, 12 months a year…that adds up to more
than 8 hours. This
means you’re getting an extra day off with pay that no
one else is
getting.
Is this fair to your co-workers?
Coming to work 5 minutes late everyday is not
acceptable. I need someone in this position who will be
here everyday from 8:00am – 5:00pm. I do hope that
person is you.
this
response points out the bottom line problem with those
"little tardies" and in the process it makes
it sort of a big deal and you should be perceived as a
micro manager.
Good
luck with this one. Please come back and let me know how
this works out for you.
